SOAP AID
01 - COMPANY PROFILE
SOAP AID soap manufcaturer in Australia
Soap AidSoap Aid is an Australian based charity and social enterprise that collects, recycles and redistributes discarded soap from accommodation providers around Australia and New Zealand to communities experiencing hygiene poverty. Founded in 2012, Soap Aid was created to address two significant challenges: the unnecessary waste of partially used soap generated by the tourism and accommodation sector, and the lack of access to basic hygiene products in vulnerable communities.
Working with hotels, accommodation providers and corporate partners across Australia, we recover used soap that would otherwise end up in landfill. Our unique recycling process transforms these discarded bars into safe, hygienic, high-quality soap, which is then distributed free of charge to disadvantaged communities throughout Australia and around the world through our Community Impact Partners, alongside hygiene education for lifelong health improvements.
To date, Soap Aid has distributed more than 4 million bars of recycled soap, including over 1.8 million bars within Australia, helping improve hygiene outcomes while reducing environmental waste.
Our programmes support remote and Indigenous communities, crisis accommodation services, community organisations, schools, and disaster response efforts.
In 2025, Soap Aid launched its innovative Camp to Community programme, creating a circular solution that collects partially used soap from campgrounds and holiday parks and redistributes it to people in need. The programme was recognised in Rio Tinto’s Supplier Recognition Award for Environmental Sustainability with partners Sodexo and Woollahra and received the City of Kingston Sustainable Business Award for Product Innovation.
By turning waste into a resource, Soap Aid demonstrates how simple everyday products can create lasting environmental and social impact.
