Soap mixers are essential machines in industrial soap finishing lines, used to mix and amalgamate soap noodles with fragrances, colorants, additives and fillers. Open Sigma Z and Double Arm Sigma mixers are used for different soap manufacturing applications, including toilet, laundry and translucent soap.

Soap Mixers

The soap mixer is usually the first machine in a soap finishing line. Its main purpose is to thoroughly mix soap noodles with colorants, fragrances, solid or liquid additives and, particularly for laundry soap, fillers. Soap mixers can mainly be divided into two types.

Open Sigma "Z" Mixer

The Open Sigma "Z" Mixer is equipped with one shaft carrying two mixing blades. It is mainly used in toilet soap manufacturing, where fillers are not normally required. The mixed soap is discharged from the bottom of the mixing tank through a door that is generally opened and closed by a pneumatic cylinder.

Double Arm Sigma Mixer – DSM

The Double Arm Sigma Mixer (DSM) has two mixing shafts designed to provide vigorous mixing. It is mainly used in laundry soap manufacturing, where fillers are required. Intensive or micro-mixing is achieved by breaking up the soap noodles, exposing a larger surface area and allowing the ingredients to penetrate into the soap. The two massive, tangential and counter-rotating Sigma blades provide the power required for the mixing process. The blades are supported by heavy-duty roller bearings and are driven by two separate gearboxes. The mixed soap is discharged from the bottom of the mixing tank, normally through two doors operated by pneumatic cylinders. The Double Arm Sigma Mixer can also be equipped with a special tilting discharge system. The mixing tank can be jacketed for heating and cooling applications and is machined to maintain a minimum gap between the blades and the tank. The Double Arm Sigma Mixer is also used in translucent soap manufacturing.
