Soap wrappers and cartoners are essential packaging machines for individually packaging finished soap bars after cutting and stamping. Wrappers use paper or BOPP film, while cartoners insert soap bars into individual carton boxes at different production speeds.

Soap wrappers and cartoners are packaging machines used after soap finishing and stamping to individually package solid soap bars. Soap wrappers apply paper or film around the soap bar, while soap cartoners insert finished soap bars into individual carton boxes.
Soap Wrappers
A soap wrapper is designed to wrap both rectangular and oval soap bars, with or without a side band. The wrapping system can use outlet paper and inner stiffener, which provides additional stability, particularly for oval and bandless soap bars. This wrapping style is known as double-point end fold. The paper is normally supplied from a heat-sealing reel. Some soap wrappers can also operate with pre-cut sheets. To reduce packaging costs, some soap wrappers can be equipped with kits designed to use BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) film instead of heat-sealing paper. BOPP film can be transparent or printed.
Soap Wrapper Infeed System
Soap wrappers incorporate an automatic infeed system for the soap bars coming from the soap press. Different feeding systems are used according to the type of soap bar. Toilet soap bars are generally fed using suction cups, while rectangular laundry soap bars are normally fed by pushers.
Soap Wrapper Production Speed
Soap wrappers can operate at production rates ranging approximately from 100 to 350 wrapped soap bars per minute. High-speed soap wrappers are designed for large soap finishing lines and can reach production rates of up to 600 soap bars per minute.
Soap Cartoners
A soap cartoner, also called soap cartoning machine, is designed to insert individual soap bars into small carton boxes. Soap bars arriving from the infeed chain are transferred into the carton by a system of pushers. At the same time, shafts equipped with suction cups transfer the flat carton from the magazine into the toothed chain.
Carton Box Closures
Soap carton boxes can mainly have three types of closure:
- Tuck-in closure
- Reverse tuck closure
- Hot-melt closure
With the hot-melt system, glue is sprayed on the external parts of the carton to close the box.
Types of Soap Cartoners
Soap cartoners can be divided into two main types according to their operating movement:
Alternate Motion Cartoners
Alternate-motion soap cartoning machines can reach production speeds of up to approximately 120 soap bars per minute.
Continuous Motion Cartoners
Continuous-motion soap cartoning machines are designed for higher production rates and can reach speeds of up to approximately 500 soap bars per minute. The soap infeed system can use pushers or high-speed feeding systems depending on the required production rate.
Wrapping and Cartoning in Soap Packaging
Soap wrappers and cartoners perform two different packaging operations. A soap wrapper packages the soap bar directly with paper or BOPP film, while a soap cartoner places the soap bar inside an individual carton box. The choice between wrapping and cartoning depends on the type of soap bar, packaging material, required presentation and production rate.
